Turtle Doves Released To Help Prevent Extinction

Conservation groups have released turtle doves in the South Downs National Park as part of an effort to stop the species from going extinct. More than two dozen birds were set free in this protected area in southern England. The goal is not only to increase numbers, but also to give turtle doves a chance to establish themselves in the wild. After release, the birds must adapt to local conditions, find appropriate food, and survive long enough to breed.
