Repairs Begin on Helvellyn Mountain Path After Decades

A team has started major repairs on a mountain path at Helvellyn. Officials say this is the first large project since the 1980s. The goal is to improve parts of the trail that have been worn down over time. Workers will place new stone to strengthen the route. Because the site is hard to reach, they will use a helicopter to transport materials. The aircraft will move more than 100 tonnes of stone to the work area. The repairs are expected to help protect the path and make it safer for hikers. The project also shows how difficult mountain work can be when roads are limited.
