Jupiter and Venus are expected to appear very close together in the night sky. Many people will be able to spot this event after sunset.
Astronomers call it a “planetary conjunction.” From Earth, the planets seem to move toward the same direction, so they look like they are meeting. In reality, they are still far apart in space, and they will not collide. The view can be striking, because Venus is bright and Jupiter is also easy to notice.
To see the best view, look for a clear sky and a place with less light. Binoculars can help you notice both planets more easily. A telescope may show them even more clearly.
