The US House of Representatives voted to hold billionaire Leon Black in contempt of Congress, a move that can trigger further legal action. Lawmakers said Black failed to cooperate with their investigation.
Black had business connections to Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex crimes. The House requested that Black appear before a committee and provide documents related to Epstein and the matters under review.
However, Black declined to attend the hearing and did not turn over the materials Congress sought. Supporters of the vote argue that this refusal undermines the committee’s ability to gather evidence and assess possible links.
