The RSPB says Britain’s protected birds of prey are still being attacked illegally. The conservation charity warns that the problem has not gone away, despite legal protections.
According to the RSPB, the harm includes shooting birds, trapping them, and poisoning them. The charity also highlights where these incidents occur: more than half of the attacks take place on, or very near, land that is managed for game shooting. In other words, the violence is often linked to hunting activities on estates and private areas.
The RSPB is urging stronger enforcement and more effective prevention. It wants investigations to be improved and offenders to face real consequences. The charity also calls on the public to report suspicious behavior, so cases can be acted on sooner.
