Russian President Vladimir Putin said there is “no point” in meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the war. Putin argued that face-to-face talks would not change the situation.
The refusal came after Zelensky published an open letter asking for direct, in-person discussions. Zelensky’s request was meant to push for steps toward ending the fighting.
BBC reports that Putin’s response signals continued disagreement over how peace talks should happen, and no meeting has been agreed so far.
