Hurricane Isaias has strengthened and is now a major Category 3 storm. Meteorologists warn that this level of storm can cause strong winds, flooding, and other serious impacts. The first Atlantic hurricane of the year is expected to reach land later on Friday and continue into Saturday across the US Gulf Coast. Residents in coastal areas are urged to prepare for changing weather and possible disruptions. So far, the Atlantic hurricane season has been quieter than usual. One reason is El Niño, which can affect ocean and air conditions. However, despite that calmer period, Isaias has grown more powerful and is moving toward the coast.
