Hot Summer Helps Volunteers Clear Lake Litter

A very hot summer has changed many lakes and rivers across the country. Water levels became lower, so parts of the lake bed and river edges were easier to reach. Volunteers took advantage of this moment to remove litter from the water and the shoreline. They collected different kinds of waste, including plastic items and other rubbish left by people. Cleaning up matters because trash can harm wildlife and pollute the environment. It can also make the water look bad and smell unpleasant. Even though hot weather can be stressful for nature, it helped the group see the “buckets” of litter more clearly and remove them faster. The effort shows how people can respond quickly to changing conditions.
