Researchers reported encouraging results for a new drug called daraxonrasib. It is taken as a pill and is being studied for people with pancreatic cancer, which is often very hard to treat. In the study, patients who received daraxonrasib lived about twice as long as those on standard care. Doctors say the results suggest the medicine could be a major step forward for managing this deadly cancer. The researchers also noted that more work is needed to confirm the benefits and to understand side effects. Still, the findings were described as a breakthrough because pancreatic cancer has few effective options for many patients.
